The preparations for Twyford Waterworks railway day have reached such a stage that I can tentatively reveal that there will be a small but select gathering of autotrucks with examples from the following manufacturers:
Lister (4 - including the two resident rail trucks) Reliance (2 - including the sweeper from Cobham bus museum) Lansing Bagnell (1 - provided the owner can attend) Mercury (1) Electrocar (1 - provided the owner can attend) There will also be several 2-wheeled tractors.
This means that there will be the probably two preservation ‘firsts’ - that of two Reliance built trucks and two garage sweepers together.
It is still not too late to register to attend: for more information contact me, Matthew Feldwick, on 01962 714716.
The rest of the Waterworks, a scheduled ancient monument, will be open (11am - 4pm) with the general theme for the day being industrial and other railways. There will be a visiting locomotive (Thakeham) from Amberley Working Museum along with several model railway layouts and Tri-ang 10 ¼” miniature railways.
